linux thread calling all nerds

i'm starting to get all kinds of great noises, slow boots and fun fun cmos errors with my current computer and i can't hardly blame the old girl, she's been rode hard and put up wet for quite some time. so anyways i'm thinking about building up another one. the only os i've been using is windows 2000 (suck it), and i really need to get something newer. i fucking hate xp and i don't wanna fool with vista so why not try some flavor of linux

i need one that can read ntfs partitions without bugging the fuck out. i don't play computer games anymore (besides emulators and web-based dealies) so that isn't an issue. i need some drivers/programs for an olympus camedia d-540 and an ati all-in-wonder tvtuner card, both of which are over 3 years old so that SHOULDN'T be an issue.

any suggestions

i had a little success with mandrake community 10.0 a year or two ago when i was dualbooting on the other comp, but then i got addicted to wow and never ever used it.

i only need it to be able to read ntfs partitions because i have a shitton of stuff on harddrives that i don't wanna transfer over
